zRPG 2.0 – Update #5

This may or may not be the last time this game sees light. If you’ve read my last post, you will know I am moving away from creating games in WinForms, and will be moving forward with Unity.

This post will walk through most of the current functionality that the game has. It will simply be screenshots, and many of them may look the same, read the captions to see what is being shown.

The Start Screen

After clicking “Begin Adventure”, we will see the Create Character Screen.

After clicking “Create Character” we will be asked to confirm.

The Main Screen. We can see the “Search” button is enables in the bottom right.

After clicking the “Search” button, we will see the Loot Screen.

After clicking “Loot All” we will return to the Main Screen. We can see we now have the two items in our inventory, and the “Search” button is now disabled.

If we have an item selected in out inventory, and click “Use Item”, we will use the item. The item is then removed from the inventory, and our defense is now 62 instead of 60.

If we move to a location on the map (arrow keys, W-A-S-D, or by clicking the map) that has a Monster, the “Attack” button will enable, and we will see some information in the console.

After clicking the “Attack” button, a few things happen; We hurt the Giant Rat 34 damage, and then the Giant Rat retaliates with 12 damage to us. The information is added to the console. (Note out health is now 68/80)

After clicking “Attack” again, we hit the Giant Rat with 32 this time, but the Giant Rat is still not dead. Luckily, the Giant Rat hits us with 0.

The next hit kills the Giant Rat. The console is updated, and we receive 10 EXP points, and 3 gold. We can see that the “Search” button is now enabled.

After clicking the “Search” button, we see the Loot Screen again. This time with a Rat’s Tail”.

We have looted the Rat’s tail and moved to the Town Market. We can see the “Trade” button is now enabled.

After clicking the “Trade” button we can see the Trade Screen. On the left is our inventory, and the right is the Traders inventory.

After selling the Leather Gloves, we can see we have 5 more gold, and the Trader has 5 less gold.

After selling what we don;t need, and buying what we want, our inventory looks like this.

Closing out of the Trade Screen will bring us back to the Main Screen. We can see out inventory has been updated.

After using all our newly purchased items, we can see our health has been raised by 10, and we are equipped with our Leather Boots and Wood Sword.

If we close the game, we will see the Start Screen, if we click the “Continue Adventure” button, we will see the Load Character Screen. From here, we can Load or Delete an existing Character.

The Configuration Screen allows you to change the game colors, as well as the data directory file path.

Pressing Save will apply colors to the entire Game.
