DIY Dice Rolling Tray – Less Than $2

I have been wanting a dice rolling tray for a while but can’t bring my self to spend $15 or more on one. So, I decided to make my own.

I started with one of those wood box art decorations that you can get from department stores that usually have corny sayings on them like “As long as we have Wine, the holidays will be fine”. I can’t remember exactly what this one said, but it did have something to do with Wine. Anyway, I found a one at Goodwill for $2.99. It happened to be a color of the week item so I got it for $1.50. I already had black spray paint in my garage so it didn’t cost me anything to paint it. I got a sheet of red felt from a local craft store for $0.39. (I later realized you can get the same size sheet of felt from Wal-mart for $0.23) I simply cut the felt to fit the inside of the newly painted box, and used some of my daughters school glue to secure it.

There’s even enough felt left over to make another one. I plan to make a larger one and I’ll post it here when I eventually do. Also, I’ve created a Dice Tower out of Legos that would serve the same purpose. The dice tower is less practical as it does not transport well, but I’ll consider posting that as well.

Thanks for reading!
