I got this idea from Nick over at Deconstructing Video Games. Here we go:
A game everyone loves that you can’t stand
Online First Person Shooters
Specifically, Call of Duty. Not sure why, but I just never enjoyed playing shooters online. I do however, enjoy the campaigns on some of these games; Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty World at War are some notable ones.
A game that you love but no one else seems to
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
I can’t really say ‘no one’ likes this game, but this is one that I hear people complain about a lot. This is the only Zelda game I’ve played with motion controls, ( I played Twilight Princess on GameCube 😀 ) and I thought they worked very well.
An older game you haven’t finished, and probably never will
A Story About My Uncle.
I know this isn;t that old, but when I first built a computer and started using steam, this was one of the first games I got. It really is a beautiful puzzle-platformer with an interesting story. I have been stuck in the same spot for so long, every time I start up the game I remember why I stopped playing it. -_-
A guilty pleasure game
RuneScape (Old School)
This game just brings back so much nostalgia. That’s where the pleasure comes in. Unfortunately, to do anything fun in the game, you’ll need a membership. That’s the guilty part. Supposedly this will be coming out on Mobile soon.
A game you really love but haven’t played in a long time
I played this game in High School, and really enjoyed it, but haven’t been able to log on due to forgotten credentials. I have been meaning to check out Guild Wars 2, but haven’t gotten around to it.
A game you never play seriously but others do
Super Mario Brothers Wii
My wife loves Mario Platformers. In this game, you can play with up to 4 players on the same screen. The more people playing, the higher chance someone is going to get in your way. My wife gets pretty serious about this game, but I either get super frustrated, or I’m the one being super frustrating.
A game you completed but hated it by the end
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Let me clarify, I do not hate this game. There are certain missions that I do hate. While this game is super fun to play, I would probably not try to beat this game again.
A game you thought you’d enjoy, but didn’t
Super Mario Maker
This game was highly anticipated when it was first announced. I love playing other people’s levels and playing the levels that Nintendo has built into the game. The thing that I didn’t enjoy was actually making my own levels. I know, I know, that was the main point of this game, but I would get blank canvas syndrome whenever I tried to make a level. :S
A game you didn’t think was for you, and then loved
Ice Age 2: The Meltdown
I got this game in a small lot from eBay. The purpose of the lot was to get Kirby’s Block Ball on GameBoy for my wife. I didn’t really care much about the other games, until I started playing this one. Not much else to say about it, but it definitely fit into this category.
A game you are still excited for that hasn’t come out yet
Elder Scrolls VI and/or Diablo IV
Those games have not even been announced; so, one that I really am looking forward to, that I know for sure will exist, is:
Red Dead Redemption 2.
Red Dead Redemption is one of my favorite games of all time. I will have to buy an Xbox One to play this though!
